Jailed a gun, but have issues with address verification

i will try to keep this explanation short about the situation. so i already jailed a gun a couple days ago but got a call from the shop saying there was an issue with the vehicle registration i used for addy verification.... veh reg is the only address i can use, utilities rent n stuff are under my gfs name.

i recently moved and had to change address with dmv for all my car reg and at the same time also had to renew drivers license, and also one vehicle reg was due. so all my vehicles have my old address, and my drivers lisc is my new address. (they do not send new reg cards for change of addy).

i changed addy on the vehicle that was due before notice was sent, so the notice was sent to my new addy. so i paid the dues and got the new sticker + reg in the mail. so now i have my drivers lisc, and one vehicle with matching address. good to go right?

well i thought i was good to go, so went in and jailed a glock 19 last friday and everything went smooth until today when i got a call saying that the reg card i used is not yet valid - its good 5/2014-5/2015. so they said i need to bring in another document to verify.

but if the new reg has my address, and they mail it to that address, and i received it, isnt that perfect verification that it is my address?????

do i need to go to the dmv and pay to get a copy of one of my other vehicle reg cards??? and if i do that it will be a temporary card, can i use a temp card for verification??? i do not want to wait until may to get my gun!! and i do not want to give the state any more of my money!!

My brother has/had the same problem, plus the DMV spelled his middle name wrong on his registration and he never noticed it.
Call the shop or go back in and explain the issue. Ask them if they'll except a temp registration from the DMV. I would imagine if it is on DMV letterhead that there should not be an issue.
    Good Luck!

We have AAA, went in and got a registration form printed out same day with a change of address just 2 weeks ago. Actually changed it back to my wife's family's house with not a single problem. It wasn't a temporary either it was an actual registration form printed on DMV paper. I'm sure DMV will do same for you just after a much longer wait in line! Good luck hope this helps.

        AAA!!

Hey when I was in Virginia my DL spelled my middle name wrong too (well they spelled it as it should be, my mom misspelled it on the birth certificate!). That was never an issue with firearms

Wonder if CA DOJ is more picky than NICS

I never go to DMV these days. Join AAA (well worth it on many levels) and you can do these changes at their locations in about 5 minutes.

They will print what you need on DMV paperwork, while you wait.

Good choice on the Glock 19.!
