    Shipping a Rifle

    Another silly question from me.

I sold a rifle on another forum to a guy in Georgia. How is the easiest, best and least inexpensive way to do it? This seems like on of those things where you could ask 8 people and get 6 different answers.

USPS? UPS? Anything special I will need to bring or do? I've never done this before so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have done it three times all with the USPS. I soft cased them, wrapped with newspaper then boxed and taped like mad. I told them one time and they double checked their regs to make sure. Other two never said a word. No problems whatsoever.

USPS priority mail shipped to the person's FFL. Best way to go.

Fed Ex (just because no one said it yet, and they ship faster than UPS even with flat rate ground, atleast to my house.)

It needs to go to an FFL.

The clerks at USPS can freak out depending on their IQ. I had a clerk who nearly soiled himself and refused to ship firearm parts. I had to contact the District Office by phone who explained to them that it's okay. It's totally legit to ship rifles and shotguns via USPS to the buyer's FFL.

UPS distribution centers have been great in my experience. It cost me less than $20 to ship a rifle to Texas via UPS Ground.

              Never tried FedEx myself.
