    Island View Enterprises experience

They HAD great customer service in the past. Used them as FFl and bought a couple of lowers from them and I had nothing to say but good things. I even recommended them to my coworkers.

Maybe I'm just one of the few, but here is my latest experience with this lgs. I ordered an SR9c from gallery of guns to be picked up a Island View. I received confirmation from GOG that my gun was delivered to IVE on March 11. I called a few times and the response was "we'll call you when the gun is in". I even gave them my wife's cell phone number (because I told the guy at the time that I'm worried that the gun might fall off the DOJ list). I called tonight because I haven't heard from them since my last phone call on March 17. Long story short, I was told that the gun fell of the list and I can't buy it anymore and it was sent back to Gallery of Guns. I asked to speak to a manager and was given to Dave.

Dave insisted he called and left a message on the 17th of march. When I checked my phone records, I found that I had a missed call from IVE number. I told Dave initially that I did not see IVE's number, but upon closer look, I found it in my call history. It was a missed call at 6:01 pm. No message was left, although, Dave insisted that he left a message. I told him that it was bad customer service that I did not get a courtesy call. I told dave that I might write about this experience online.

A couple of minutes later, Dave called back. He insisted that he left a message and told me that I shouldn't be writing lies behind a computer. At this point, this really got to my nerve and told him sarcastically, "you want me to come over and tell it to you in front of your customers?". He said yeah, why don't you....at that point, I hung up the phone. I admit, I slammed the phone on him. And going to a gun store and making a scene is not really a good idea, isn't it?

Now, if the gun was gonna fall of the list, why didn't anyone bothered to call me the next day on the 18th just to make sure that I get the message? They sent the gun back to GOG, no one ever called me again to tell me that I can't complete the transaction anymore. When I said I will write about this experience, he accused me of making lies behind a computer.

Maybe most of the guys here have a great experience with this LGS like I did in the past. This may have just been a fluke, but accusing someone of lying is just plain wrong. He should've tried to find ways to correct the situation.

    3.25.2014

After reviewing my phone records, I found that I made two calls to island view on 3/17/2014. I was told at those calls that they had a back log of orders and they'll get to me. After those two calls, I received a message from Dave (around 1:59 pmthe same day) telling me to come to the store that day because the gun will fall off roster. I accept responsibility for not getting ive's message, however, they received the gun on 3/11/2014. I also called 3/13/14 and the quick response was I'll get a call once it's received or ready.

As a side note, I picked ive over a gun store around the corner (who's offer was cheaper) because of my previous dealings with them and their support for Calguns. I am not trying to get people not to patronize ive, this is just sharing an experience. I learned that next time, I should have been more assertive about getting immediately dros'd. IVE should've not wait the last minute to make a call to advise me that the gun will fall off roster that same day when they received it a week earlier.

Bummer. Did the gun in fact make it back to GOG and your money refunded? less restock or whatever?

GOG told me that will will refund my full deposit. GOG was very friendly and understanding, and although this transaction did not work out, I will definitely do business with them again.

Yes I agree, all my past interaction with ive since it was a small store was very pleasant. This experience may have been just a fluke. Bummer that I missed an opportunity to own an SR9.

Not particularly fond of IVE, but on your end, you missed the call, and should have been a bit more proactive in conveying the fact that the pistol had been delivered.

On their end, that was extremely poor customer service, and they could have resolved the issue a number of different ways, especially since they offer Single-Shot Exemptions.

not to play devils advocate, but honestly, i would of hounded them or headed over there the minute the tracking number said delivered and signed. even though they need to run your transfer, it's up to you to be proactive on your own gun to make sure you get it out of jail, quick and painless before a looming deadline like it falling off the roster.

But then again, i agree they could of handled it a bit better on your situation and not start accusing their own customers and just be a bit less crude or defensive. I've done business with them in the past and all has been good, fwiw

Yes, I missed the call, my bad, and I called at least three times. Like I said, I should have been more assertive instead.

I have a silver membership, have bought three guns from them. No complaints, they have always exhibited exemplary customer service to me. Sorry yours didn't go as smoothly.

While I've bought 3 guns from them over the last couple of years I've never had a bad experience myself. Their prices are fair for the most part and they have a pretty large selection.

I've also bought from Turners in Oxnard. Have had good experiences there as well.

The ONLY bad thing I have seen at IVE was what seemed as shady as could be but there were 2 kids and an older man (non English speaking) picking up a m&p 15 and when handing the gun over to the older man the sales associate was trying to tell him about it but the language barrier was there. The kids took the gun and instructed the old man where to sign to release it. The kids were not the kind I'd ever want to own a firearm (I'm profiling, but looked straight out of a gang). I would have made the registered owner carry the box out even if I had to escort him to the door.

That was the only odd thing I've seen. Otherwise they've been great and always have met my needs. I'm sure if I was farting around with guns falling off the roster something could have been missed. With all the roster stuff going on one would think they'd be on top of it more than they were. Accidents happen that's all.

I'd like to give the business to someone local but they just don't have the inventory to be able to handle and feel different guns. One shop might but I fear they're overpriced by a long shot.

At our shop, we do not call customers to tell them their transfer guns are in unless you specifically ask us to. We rely on the customer to know where his property is and when it ought to be here. We rely on the customer to come down and start the process.

Once you get there and start the process, we handle the transfer professionally and just as timely as buying a gun from us.

Part of the reason you should be proactive when doing transfers is if it is not a transfer dealer, but a brick and mortar store, they have many other more profitable transactions occurring. Transfers are not their bread and butter and quite often they don't even care about transfers in general (hence their charging outrageous fees for transfers so you will go somewhere else).

If I have a customer in my shop telling me his gun has been delivered and he wants to start the transfer right now, I will track that firearm down and start the transfer right then and there. If it sits over in the corner and I don't get a chance to log it in for 7 days, no big deal to me and again, I am not going to call anyone anyway.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

OP, Camarillo shooters supply is a good FFL to deal with if your soured by IslandView. I have made one purchase thru GOG and that was with Cam shooters. No issues.

Question though. GOG sends you tracking, at least they did with me. Why didn't you check it rather than rely on ILV?
