Documents to keep from purchase

Sort of new to guns, and I couldn't find my answer through the search function so here goes...

What documents from the sale of the firearm should I keep? I imagine the actual transfer paper with the serial number and blah blah, anything else?

I don't think there is any regulation to keep any of the docs.

That said, I keep the original receipt, and a copy of the DROS submission form. The FFL should make a copy for you if you ask.

And if you have any RAWs, you would keep a copy of those docs. But unless you registered before 2000 (or somewhere in that time frame) you cannot legally have a RAW.

I may be wrong on some of this, and if I am, I'm sure that someone will chime in and point it out.

Get yourself one of those big brown envelopes and keep it together. I have all my paperwork since the 70's in case for insurance or theft .

Same here, with copies in both gun safe and safe deposit box at bank.

I save copies of 4473's, my C&R bound book, copies of receipts, etc. I use a 3-ring binder with plastic page protectors, one for each weapon.

Same reason...insurance, theft, and crs issues.

Same here. I keep copies of everything in my safe even though I may not need it, it never hurts to have it.
