It's getting a lot more shooters on the weekends. Lots of people I don't trust as far as gun safety goes.

Past few weekends idiots were taking shots at my targets.

If you aren't a member the admission fees are outrageous. If you don't mind a high admission fee you might not like some of the stupid rules they have. I'd rather just try my luck at Lytle Creek.

What are some of stupid rules?

As far as price for non-members, what is it now? It's $6 for members, which probably makes it $16 for non? Why you wouldn't pay the $50 for an annual membership is beyond me. Unless you're a once a year shooter, you should pay for a membership.

What stupid rules? They have been kool & the gang when I've gone. Stay behind the line on a cease fire and you're cool.

The last time I was there I was only allowed to put 5 rounds in my 30's. I also didn't like the 1 shot every 2 seconds rule. So, since I don't like what I call stupid rules, I choose not to go there anymore.

They allow magnetic 7.62x39, what else could you want? I fire faster than 1 shot every 2 seconds, on the rifle & pistol lines. Never been an issue. I'm not trying to talk you into liking the range, I don't want anyone to get the wron impression about the place. Cool little range, wish ammo wasn't soo damn expensive so I could go more often.

The 5 rounds maximum in the magazine rule has never been enforced in the 20 years I've been shooting there. IIRC, that rule was put on the official rules because of BLM restrictions (it is BLM leased land).

As far as the 1 shot per second rule, that's because the range doesn't allow rapid fire. There are a few valid reasons for no rapid fire. #1 is the fact that people abuse the concept of shooting as fast as the trigger resets. Most of the time, people aren't even hitting the target and are destroying target frames. Other times these people are hitting the ground, and even targets around their target. Then there is the distraction issue. Yes, rapid fire is a distraction. I understand that there are quite a few people that can shooting accurately enough while shooting faster than 1 shot per second, but a general firing line such as IFG isn't meant for rapid fire actions shooting. There are facilities that are more oriented for action shooting (i.e. WEGC). That's why my friends that shoot at IFG regularly also go to WEGC for more 'free' shooting.

With the issues going involving the range and 3rd parties, and the development around the area, there's a good chance it won't be around for more than a few years now. Which means one less range in SoCal, and will put a hurt on shooting in the Riverside/SB area.

I myself outgrew Inland for the most part, However I still maintain a yearly membership (B-day present from Mom every year) for training new shooters, Admin on new and old firearms, testing new loads and data, function testing firearms that have had work done in the shop and just to support a local range. I also want to be like Henry when I grow up!!!
