So, it turns out that the packet holder guides out of Flavia packet boxes are actually just the right size for 7.62x39mm cases. And furthermore, they hold precisely 30 rounds.

It's sort of a stripper clip - it doesn't work with the stripper clip guides on the SKS, but you *can* feed with it... just not so well.
