Stair climbing dolly for moving safe...

Does anybody on here have one of those fancy stair climbing dollies? If so, would you consider loaning/renting it out to a fellow calgunner. I'm located in the south bay. Thanks!

Not sure where exactly you are located but A Tool Shed Rentals has one at their Campbell location.

Do yourself a huge favor and just pay a safe mover to do it. If they mess it up, its covered by insurance.

                Beat me to it.

If you have ever seen a competent safe mover do his job, you won't even think about doing it yourself.

Anyway, there is probably too much liability involved in loaning someone a stair-climbing dolly to move a safe. This is an activity that can easily lead to serious injury or death.

A furniture dolly is a 4wheeled rectangle right? That wouldnt help much for stairs....

Thanks for the replies! Liberty safe of San Jose quoted me $1200 to move it up the 34 stairs I have. This safe is 350lbs and I was able to remove the door so the box itself is probably around 250lbs. If it was any heavier I wouln't even think about doin it myself. I guess I could shop around for differnt movers. I just don't like people knowing what I have and where...

You don't need a stair climbing dolly for 250 lbs. a regular appliance dolly will do just fine. Rent one from uhaul.

That is a light safe, should be easy for two people to move upstairs.

That's what I did....their dolly had tracks and it took to climbing steps & etc easy as could be.....especially with a 1,000lbs gun safe.

That's the only way to fly!!!

Little tip if using a furniture dolly (even if it has the tracks on the back), place a piece of cardboard on the edge of each step as you go to avoid messing up the carpet. Just use a couple pieces and move them as you go or you will slip on them. Slow and steady, count down each step so everyone lifts at the same time.

Not movers.....shop around for a different safe company!!!

When I bought my safe, the company moved it and I was charged $300 iirc...

That was the best spent money....next to the safe!
