    Intro to 3-Gun Competition

The sport of 3-Gun is growing like mad right now. I wrote an article on the topic. So I figured I'd share it here to help anyone that's interested in getting started.

Great article! I particpated in my first 3G match last weekend with Linea del Fuego at Pala and had a great time, even with using a pump shotgun. My goals were to not shoot myself or anyone else and HAVE FUN. Mission accomplished! Everyone was really supportive and and can't wait to do it again.

            Good read

Can I use a pump 12ga, such as my mossberg 500, in the tactical division? You're only mentioning semi-auto's there, and my only semi-auto is box mag fed.

You want to run a pump shotgun in heavy metal division, along with a .45acp pistol and 30 cal rifle. A magazine fed shotgun puts you in Open division.

Tomorrow at west end gun club is a 3 gun match, called LESA. Next Sat is 3 gun at WEGC. It is on the calendar on the WEGC web site. The price is fairly low and the people are great. It is open for non members to shoot the competition.

The article was very good. I was on my phone earlier when I read it and posted. It pretty much sums up my experience with competitions. I have only shot the local matches. The west end matches are organized, but laid back too. I haven't won a match yet and may not ever win a local match, but I get better as I do it and have a fun time. I put off trying 3 gun because I didn't have all the stuff. I had a setup for pistol shooting. I should have tried 3 gun sooner. If you are on the fence, just try it. If anyone in the IE area is interested in trying 3 gun, I would be willing to introduce them to the sport and help them get a feel for it.

anyone in the sac area, lincoln rifle club runs a three gun/defensive multi gun on the first sat. of every month. just don't be a choad, tape and reset the targets, no matter how cool your sbr jersey is. besides that little inconvenience, it's an excellent competition.
