I live in a gang infested part of Los Angeles, I have encountered two instances where me and my family members have been fired at. Once walking to a corner store and more recently sitting in front of my apartment (my brother ended up hit in the leg). I own several legally purchased firearms but am afraid of being prosecuted as a result of using them, how can I legally defend myself in these types of situations?

Defending myself legally?

Usually you can't defend yourself with a firearm in your situation. LA won't give you a "Carry Permit" and you can't hang outside your apt with a loaded firearm.
Your best options are to run, or move out of the area.Rogue American, Media Mercenary.

This is a really good question, I hope someone more knowledgeable than me can answer it in detail.
When it comes to outside the home yeah, if you don't have a CCW permit you're out of luck for defending yourself. AFAIK indoors, if you're inside your home and someone breaks in you can defend yourself, but I'm sure there are limitations to that as well.

If you fight back the gangs will kill you and your family. It's the sad truth about living in gangland.

The sad part is if you defended yourself with a gun against an aggressor, and it was a good shoot, the perps family might file a civil lawsuit against you, which even if you win might cost you many thousands of dollars. Better to just stay as far away as possible from any bad situation, even if you're armed.NRA life member CRPA life memberComment

Keep making the police reports. That way if something happens there will be a long paper trail of you trying to handle it in a civil manner.I live in a gang infested part of Los Angeles, I have encountered two instances where me and my family members have been fired at. This will be viewed favorably if something uncivil happens.Originally posted by Citadelgrad87...what we have here is a hillary panty sniffer...Originally posted by AppleseedA Rifleman understands that owning and mastering a rifle is part of his heritage as an American.Originally posted by ProShooterNo man, butt rape is happening like, all of the time in prison. You are not going to solve this problem with a gun. Even if you kill one of the a holes, there will always be 20 more......
Do whatever you have to do to get out of there.
Sad to say, but the best use of your guns in this instance would probably be their cash value (minus your favorite one).
GTF out of there for your family's sake.Comment
