Time To Tune Off Spike TV

I caught a few episodes of '1,000 Ways To Die' on Spike TV the other night. During the second episode they had a segment about some "gun-totting" Arizonan who was with the "illegal racist hate group" of the Minute Men. In the words of Hunter Thompson, they were a part of "some kind of outback nazi law enforcement agency." In the words of the show they were "hunting down 'so called' illegals."

After seeing that, I was disgusted and had to turn it off. No more Spike TV for me. I don't want them to get my viewership which equates to advertising dollars...

They made a mockery of respectable gun owners. Time to turn them off. Don't support them anymore.

That show is pretty much one work of fiction after another anyways.

Sounds to me like they made a mockery of the Minute Men. Please don't lump us all together.

Spike TV is the only channel I've ever seen with advertisements for guns besides outdoor channel. If anything, I think we should support Spike even more.

Did the show quote Thompson in that context, or is that you? Because it really has nothing to do with this situation. He was referring to legitimately sworn peace officers, albeit with a bent against drugged-out out-of-towners. Minute Men are not sworn peace officers, and many have challenged the legality of their presence and actions. In a segway to my second point, this is why they cannot do much more than radio in spottings to law enforcement, but cannot take any direct action themselves. Those that do are probably violating the law, and others have gone further in the name of the Minute Men. Although the group does not claim formal association with these individuals, many folks understandably make the connection, fair or not. I haven't seen the show, but it doesn't sound like Spike TV went too far with the segment. That said, consider the network in general - they air many over-sensationalized shows and I don't find much of what they air to be very interesting or entertaining.

It's time to turn off all TV anyway.
It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

I tuned out Spike TV (among most all network tv) long ago with their commercials every 10 minutes and annoying advertisements on the screen during programming.

Don't lump me with the minutemen. Minutemen like JT ready and Shawna Forde are bad image for gun owners. Best let them be forgotten forever. The problem is YOU'RE lumping gun owners with minutemen. Minutemen nowadays have a bad rep, it is what it is. When you kill 9 year old girls and you kill your own family, well that tends to give a bad rep to the association you were tied up with. But I have absolutely NO TIES with them so please don't lump me with them.

And stop taking TV so seriously.

Lol, I tuned off Tv when I moved back to OC. Cox tried to charge me a "relocation fee" for moving from SD. I've got a Slingbox now that works on my laptop so I can catch Giants and Sharks games...

Either way, liberal propaganda like this doesn't help the 2A cause. Just like they've got everybody hyped up on "assault rifles." I just had to talk to my right-leaning neighbor who claimed "assault rifles" were dangerous and should be illegal.

Thats all man. Take it or leave it, but supporting anti-2A businesses doesn't help our cause and I am tired of it becoming a "trendy" issue.

I was just out camping on the 1 in Big Sur and I realized help wasn't coming for 25-60 miles depending on if we were closer to SLO or Monterey. I felt confident with my Glock camping in the car along the highway....

The only thing being, in California, I would have had to ask the scumbag who breaks my window to rob me to "please hold on sir while I exit my vehicle and grab my Glock out of the trunk, unlock it and then proceed back to my passenger compartment to legally load my weapon with ammunition which is not touching the weapon." "Thank you sir for waiting while I load my weapon to kill you!"
