This has been reported here on CG. They (the PD) will not return your bullets when they return your gun. You pick it up without bullets from the station, should you have the misfortune of losing possession of your firearm for any reason.

Also make them fill out a long form, proving that the gun is theirs AND that they are allowed to own a firearm in the state. Hey, gotta treat everyone the same, right?
