    Yet another signature required...

Received a letter from The Outdoor Sportsman's today.

    Verbatim...

"As of January 1st. the State of California Department of Justice requires that we collect a signature from the the receiver of any firearm on the dealer record of sale (DROS) form that is printed upon firearm delivery. DOJ did not inform dealers of this requirement until February 12th, 2014. Please come by the store at your earliest convenience to sign your DOJ delivery confirmation.

    Eric Johnston
    Outdoor Sportsman Inc.
    4969 West Ln.
    Stockton, Ca 95210"

So I have to confirm a delivery... with serial number?

Here is some sand; pound it. I will return to sign the form the next time I stop in the store, out of my own convenience.

Unlike other situations where the FIREARM had to be returned to the store due to a problem (wrong serial number, wrong model, legal issues, and recently - wrong barrel due to an SSE mix-up) this is merely academic only.

There is no reason not to sign it, but I would not make a special trip for it. I'd only tell them I'll sign it next time I'm at the store for ammo/guns/browsing/PPT, etc.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

Tell him to call you when he's got some cheap 22 in stock and you'll be right over.
