My cousin went back, now they say that the officer that received the gun has retired. they said he's going to speak to someone but that the person was not there. by the way it was LA county sheriff pico rivera.

I would avoid email and phone and start using the mail make them sign for it on delivery and keep copys of all things said

Have him poke around and make sure he is clear that he won't be going away and that this won't just blow over.

I've got a dollar that says they 'find' the missing gun

its unfortunate but its SOP in alot of places for quality firearms which are not reported stolen to wind up in private collections of officers.

I'm not a guy who is into bashing LEO's, but this is not an uncommon occurance in a number of stations.

Its usually not done with malicious intent, Its often just officers who have an interest in firearms rescuing guns from destruction at the hands of the state. Most guns are never claimed by the owner... and beyond that, most people don't press the issue when they are told that the guns are destroyed.

keep digging and they will turn up.
