The following short story is true.
I work in Palo Alto. Known as a den of dumb democrats. When I still had my Nissan Maxima, I had stickers for NRA, NASCAR, guns, and a Republican elephant on it. While getting into my car, an older woman looked at me from the passenger side and asked me if this was my car. She just looked at the sticker of the elephant. I kind of braced myself for the barrage of what was to come and replied, "Yes it is." She moved a little closer to me and said, "Good! We need more people like us around here!" I smiled and said, "Have a good day!" She replied, "You too."
Not everyone is the enemy. Just most of them.
