    Competitive Prices in Murrieta

I was recently in the market for a new gun. I didn't have any one gun in mind. I wanted to browse the selections of the stores close by Murrieta.

I ended up going to Turner's in Temecula, Faith Armory, Steelwater and The Shootist. Normally, I visit The Shootist last because I don't care for the prices. In the past I have found them always to be the most expensive in town. But I haven't been to The Shootist since Turner's opened, and even though their prices were bad, I still have bought plenty of firearms from them in the past.

I was quite surprised to find such a competitively priced, wide selection of firearms. Easily the best of the four gun shops. I found Glocks, American 1911's and all kinds of other guns marked way cheaper than their competition. I was so pleased by the friendly prices, I decided to put a fancy Sig Sauer 1911 in jail. I had seen the same model for sale at all the other gun stores I had visited for hundreds more.

So just a heads up to anyone looking for a good deal around the Temecula/Murrieta area. The Shootist is really stepping up their game. I am not buddies with anyone who works there, or any way affiliated. I am not saying The Shootist is the best gun store around these parts, they do currently hold the best prices on most popular firearms from what I have seen.

I walked in there a few times and each time, was never even acknowledged. The customer service there is horrible and the FUD that is spewed from the sucks of their sales staff is ridiculous. There is nothing about that store that justifies the drive to their out of the way location. I'd rather pull my own teeth than give the ignorant and rude sales staff of the Sh1ttiest, my business.

Of all the stores you mentioned The Shootist easily has the worst customer service.

        My personal experience:
        • Shootist: Fun looking through the store, and being able to handle guns because they aren't behind the counter. Staff has always been nice to me, but I always have to work to get somebodies attention when buying something or looking at guns behind the counter
        • Steelwater: When ammo was nowhere to be found, they had it, but at premium prices. Very small selection, and after being told that a 300 box of .22lr was going for something like $80+, I never went back.
        • Turners: Friendly staff, decent prices, always get to handle guns and window shop no problem. Prices seem in line with market.
        • Faith: Great staff that is always friendly and willing to help or let me look at guns. They probably have the biggest selection of stuff in the Temecula/Murrieta area by double. Only complaint is I paid $89 for a Palmetto State Armory lower parts kit when PSA's website had them for basically half that.
        • West Coast Ammo: Has ammo and reloading presses. That's it, super small place. Don't really have anything positive or negative to say about them.

I like Faith, and tend to favor them. They tend to be the type of place that really goes out of the way to help you with your decisions (should I do x or y) by giving you good info rather than just superficial answers.

I concur. Very nasty experiences there twice. I will never darken the door of the shootist even if the have Kate Upton handing out free 22lr (wolf)
I love America for the rights and freedoms we used to have.

I went there a few years ago and asked if they carried AR parts, I was told that they were illegal to own and I was looking for a quick trip to jail. When I asked how other stores do it I was told to go break the law with them. If you're not 60+ years old looking for SASS gear go somewhere else.

Wow, I live a few miles from the Shootist and have purchased several firearms from them. My experiences have always been favorable and can't ever remember not being asked if I need help. During the buying panic they were crowded so sometimes you had to wait but I think that was justified.

Not over 60 and not into SASS. Go figure.

Don't get me wrong here, people, I am not saying The Shootist is a fantastic store. They simply have the best prices around. I am not a fan of their customer service and grumpy old salesmen. Remember, I said I was surprised when I went there. I have never hesitated to tell my friends of a bad experience at this particular store. This time the store happened to please me very much with cheap guns, so I must give credit where it's due.

And if any crappy old gun store is willing to really compete for my business, even if they can't make their staff any more friendly, I respect the honor of earned business.
