Sorry for miss understanding you. And yes a lot of trigger pulling does suck. But it's better than no trigger pulling.

I put one of those GAT trigger activators on a semi lower for my Lakeside belt fed. I just spin the crank with my index finger. Since the Browning design is a slower RPM I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything plus the 200 round belt empties slower. I'd really like to be able to put spade grips on it with some sort of finger crank system so it can be a miniature crew served gun.

This makes the ARES a winner in my book. The versatility is amazing.

The OP stated he wanted something stronger than a 556. I like the MCR but it does not fit his requirements. I have a few barrels for mine and it only takes 5 seconds to sap them out for cool down.

Now a cool conversion would be BRP's belt-fed upper, the XMG. I talked to the owner and he is not making them anymore unfortunately. I missed out on a lightly used one last summer that sold for $5000. Since I could not use it on my NFA lower I passed but now I regret it. Based on the MG34 it could run 8mm or 308.

Look into the Shrike 5th Gen. They run about 4,500.00 - 5,000.00. The 4th Gen are great too, and a litte cheaper... 3,500.00 - 4,000.00. But they lack a few features that the 5th Gen have.

The Shrike is optimal for full auto. If it will be run semi-auto the MCR is the better deal.

Prices went up over $400 since last year. I sell them at a really good price but wish they did not increase the price so much in one year. I still think they are work every penny though.

Please elaborate on the Shrike and issues in semi-auto. I was under the understanding that it worked well in both configurations. But it sounds like you have personal experience with them, where my knowledge is just internet research. It'll save me the headaches of finding out I built a poorly functioning firearm in the future.

I don't know about a list but the Browning and Maxim/Vickers systems pull out of the belt. The German 34/42 systems, the Belgian MAG/240, M60 shove the round in. Good clue is if the links are a complete circle it pulls from the link. Same if it is a cloth belt. If it is an open link it pushes through.

No issues at all. Shrike is just the completely accessorized full auto model.

A top of the line MCR semi-auto belt fed, the MCR-037 retails for $3700. Same upper with FA bolt is $4195. Shrike is even more because it comes with a bunch of extras that are not required to function like the carry handle that is $110. Same upper, just different name engraved on it. Before the price increases, which happen in October as the new year, you had to buy the MCR with a semi bolt and then if you had a Form 4 or SOT you could buy the full auto bolt separately for $258. All these upgrade parts made the MCR come very close to the Shrike in price. Now you can buy the complete FA upper if you have the right forms or a dealer that will sell it.

The Lakeside is based off the 1919 so it pulls from the links/belt.
