    Recommend gun for CCW

I did a quick search and didn't really notice any thread that talked about what guns were best used for CCW and why. So, if anyone has any recommendations on what guns are easier to carry please share your thoughts or personal experiences!

Since I am moving to Texas, I'll be able to explore this new world and utilize the concealed carry abilities.

I am thinking about going with the Springfield XDm. I currently own an XD in .40 and its the 4" service model. Pretty big so I might go with a smaller size.

I own multiple long arms but only one pistol. I think I only own one pistol because I am so happy and thoroughly satisfied with my XD. Very accurate, super reliable, eats all kinds of ammo, natural pointer and looks good.

As for concealed carry, some will not like the back-strap safety in addition to trigger safety but never have I been not able to fire my gun because I didn't grip the grip correctly even when I go to the range that allows the use of holsters and I replicate drawing and firing and an immediate threat.

There is also a video on Youtube that shows that the XD and XDm can virtually erase any possibility of neglilgent discharges when re-holstering if you practice taking your thumb away and putting it at the back of the gun where the cocked indicator is and pushing down. As you move your thumb to that position, your palm moves away from the grip safety rendering he gun inoperable.

Another reason I like the XD series is because the trigger was the best to me with very little pressure during the take-up and smooth clean break. Other triggers like Glocks and especIally the S&W MP were CRAP and good triggers can help towards more accurate shots.

So yeah, I'm not going to rule out other guns when I get to TX as I like to keep an open mind but I already have a great deal of experience and love for the XD line-up so chances are I will be going with an XD or XDm.

Actually that's probably the best answer yet. Platform consistency is very important.

Glock 30sf. 10 rounds of 45 is hard to beat. A little fat, but short grip makes it easier to conceal if you can find the flush 9 rounders. Get a good holster to support the weight and your good to go.

What about the Glock 29SF? 10 rounds of 10mm in the same exact size

I like a S&W J-frame. Small enough that you wont be leaving it home often. Reliable, and available in a variety of calibers.

Although slightly larger than sub-compact automatics I found it was easier to pocket carry without printing because of the smoother shape as compared to a sharp "L" of an auto.

                          Pick something
                          1) that you shoot well
                          2) is completely reliable in your experience with the ammo you would carry
                          3) could be concealed with less than a poncho!
