It's accurate. I looked up firefighter and it listed names and departments of guys I know.

        John Parks
        Fire Inspector EMT
        Base pay: $115,400.00
        Overtime pay: $150,125.56
        Other pay: $12,203.40
        Total pay: $277,728.96
        Total benefits: $62,837.42
        Total pay & benefits: $340,566.38

This guy made it to the front pages of our local newspaper last year - he raked more in overtime than the base salary and it was his last year working before retiring. Now we are on the hook for his pension...

I wonder who approved his overtime. This type of management would have put any private company out of business in no time.

What makes up the "other pay"? I've looked up people I know, and some of this " other" pay is $30-50k.

This is unreal. These salaries are unheard of for the level of responsibility in the private sector, even in booming sectors like pharma and tech.

What the heck. Thanks for sharing.

Heard about this on the radio today.

I'm freaking irate about the disparity in pay vs. the private sector. I don't mind a little overtime but not another salaries worth.

This is nothing compared to the monies paid to "consultants".
