BELOMO or Belarus Optiko Mechanichesckoye Obyedinenie (Belarus Optical & Mechanical Enterprise were a photographic equipment manufactured based in Minsk, Belarus. I have a couple of LOMO stills cameras from the 80's, which were cool little cameras, if not simplistic and old fashion, but are now considered a bit of a cult classic. The lenses on their cameras back in the commie days tended to be sharp in the center and soft on the outer edges, which is what added to their charm, and resulting in a photographic movement in the West, called lomography.

I believe Belomo were in dire financial difficulties after the fall of the Soviet Union, and their cameras were discontinued. They did teamed up with Ziess in the mid 90's to make optics for the military and civilian / medical market.

So to answer your question, I haven't had any experience with Belomo rifle scopes, but the current crop of POSP scopes for AK & SVDs imported into the US, and are marked MADE IN BELARUS, are of Belomo manfacture. It is obvious things have since improved for the better since Belomo's collaboration with Carl Ziess of Germany, since Ziess are one of the leading optics manufacturers in the world.

Life can make you do many things, even kiss a man with a runny nose.
