    Handgun safty class

The wife needs to take the class to obtain a handgun.
Anyone recommend a place to take it, that is not run by doushbags, in the Long Beach, Cerritos, Buena Park area.

Effective January 1, 2015, all Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) Program DOJ Certified Instructor applicants are required to have a valid Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and must obtain a COE prior to applying to become a FSC Program DOJ Certified Instructor. The Certificate of Eligibility instructions and application are available at Certificate of Eligibility. Please note that COEs must be renewed annually. The COE processing time is approximately 4 – 8 weeks.

    Click the link.

No class is required to purchase a handgun in California. She will have to take the DOJ required written test, and demonstrate safe gun handling at the time of purchase.

Its not a bad idea to take a class. But its just a handgun safety certificate she needs. Like 20 common sense questions.cost 25 bucks if i remember correctly.

My wife has historically been kinda anti-gun but living in Oakland she finally agreed that it was a good idea.
She insisted on training so we went to Chabot Gun Range and both took Basic, Intermediate and Home Defense courses.
Now she's a better shot than I am and feels comfortably in control with a firearm.

And the state-supplied study guide is here: http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/ag...rms/hscsg.pdf?

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Usually one takes the test at the dealer where she's buying the handgun. You can miss 7 out of the 30 questions and still pass.
