    Lower milling near SD?

    Hi, I'm new.

I've been bumping around the site for a week or so trying to locate a milling machine I could use to finish my paperweights that is closer to SD than Modesto and won't Rohg them up. Is there anyone in the area still teaching? I'm sorry if I missed the thread where this is being discussed. I'm not the most forum savy guy on the net and I have exhausted my creativity with the search function. Thank you for any help!

I've heard that, but I have also heard there are still individuals willing to teach and allow a person to do their own work on a machine under close supervision and guidance.... like the gentleman in Modesto. I was just hoping to find someone in San Diego is all.

You're a bit late to the party! You had to do it yourself before, you'll have to do it all by yourself now. As far as someone "hosting" or "helping" it's pretty much over. Good luck.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

Oh, I see. I thought that CNCmillguy was still doing this up in Modesto... am I missing something? I know I am really late, unfortunately... just got back from overseas.

Can we mill them out of state? I'll be going to Vegas in a few months and wanted to know if I can take a few 80% lowers with me and have them milled out there with a CNC machine.

Its a fed law. If its your property and machine in Vegas I don't see why not.

What I read in that response is that it is against the federal law if the equipment isn't yours?? That sounds like crazy talk! I haven't seen the actual law posted here... is there a link to it or a knowledgeable person that could direct me to the law? That might help me understand a bit more... seems like I'm feeling around in the dark.

Rich with small businesses and independent crafters, MakerPlace is the ideal platform to buy and sell handmade gifts, explore online art classes, and more!

It's more complicated than this, but, the ATF has an issue with a commercial business bringing chunks of metal in the door and legal firearms going out the door.

Sorry, darn smart phones. I meant the feds are enforcing these shops to shut down. Its not going to matter if you go to another state. I was guessing the poster had machines and property in Vegas.

Do you mean out-of-United-Stater? ATF is enforcing this nation wide.
