    Pressure Reading

When you buy a rifle it's built/designed to hold a certain chamber pressure when a round is discharged. How do you know what that is, do they list it anyplace. I took a reloading class yesterday and all this talk of chamber pressure made me curious.

    SAAMI
Most reloading manuals list safe pressure ranges, too. Now that you have taken a basic class, go but a few reloading manuals. Hornady has a really nice explanation complete with pictures in their manual. It will help you to understand better what variables in reloading can change pressures.

Load to within specs and then adjust from there, but you'll have to learn about pressure signs if you want to deviate from the SAAMI specs safely. Some key ones:

      - heavy bolt lift or "sticky bolt"

      - flattened or cratered primers

      - ejector marks on the brass

You should jump over to the reloading forum. Great advice in there and you'll probably get more responses
