Thought so - Marcus Leon Thompson "reached into his right pocked where is unholstered firearm was located, to retrieve money and a valet ticket, when he accidentally discharged his firearm as he reached in." http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/cl...cident_inv.php

By the way, article says it was a Glock 19.

This is why I hate Glock-style handguns that lack an external safety. I'd be paranoid all the time something like this would happen.

That's why we keep Glocks in holsters (preferably the locking kind) when we store them in places like pockets and backpacks.

Question though... How big were his pockets to be able to hold an entire Glock 19?

Last thing. Guns don't ever accidentally go off. Sometimes dumb asses accidentally pull the trigger on guns, bit they never do it on their own.

I've been carrying a glock for 6 years. It has never "accidently" gone off. Carry in a holster end of story.

Well if you are paranoid something like this would happen then you and obviously him are lacking in gun handling knowledge.

I carry 2 different Glocks, a Kahr with no external safety, my revolver has no external safety and yet I havent shot up a restaurant yet.

Its called common sense, practice and being aware of your condition.

I can guarantee that I am not alone in pratctice, that when there is a gun in a pocket holster in my pocket, I dont put anything else in that pocket...

My .38 and nemesis is all that is in my pocket.

Please stop giving the politicians more reason to ban unsafe guns...

I guess he forgot all about the "Guns are always loaded" rule. A simple MIC holster would have allowed him to safely pocket or Mexican carry.

That doesn't solve it. My 1911 safety will disengage all the time were it not for the holster that locks it in the up position while holstered.

Yeah, if I were to pocket a gun it would have a thin sheath to cover the trigger. If it were a J frame, no exposed hammer.

                          Rule #1 of pocket carry.

You have a gun pocket, it is not a gun and some change or keys pocket. It is not a gun and some loose ammo/magazine/speed loader/speed strip pocket.

When you are pocket carrying, the pocket is part of the holster, and you wouldn't put your valet ticket in your holster.

So let me get this straight. He had his hand in his pocket fondling his piece and it when off? That must have been some kind of load if it hit 9 people. Remind me not to sit in that booth or anywhere near him.
