    Olympic Biathlon rifles

i normally don't watch the olympics, but i am sick so i have powered through just about everything in my netflix list and decided to watch a biathlon event because it has guns. anyway i was wondering how places that do not allow ownership of firearms get people in the biathlon? do they have a special permit or something that lets them own the rifle and ammo or is it owned by the government?

These are usually owned by government, clubs, and sports teams if individuals are not allowed to own firearms in those countries.

Special exemptions are given for the athletes.

During this Winter Olympics in Russia, the athletes checked in their firearms with the Gov officials and could not access them until the event. After the event, the firearms were checked back in and held until the athletes left the country. No ammo is allowed, since it is provided at the event and can not leave the competition area.

This is how it works at any country IIRC. No ammo, all olympic ammo is provided, whether its for training or competition. the guns are kept in a designated place unless check out to train

The Vatican doesn't allow any hunting. Albania just banned all hunting for at least the next two years. Costa Rica just banned hunting.

In France you can only hunt with a shotgun. Any rifle has to be approved by a slew of people and only for competition purposes.

Oh ya, it has to be stored at an "approved" location, not at your home.

lol i love it when anti gunners come here.

1, they are not hunting rifles

2 the event is not about hunting, well it technically is if you count hunting humans

3 the "sport" was originally military training.

It is very much a tactical sport. It is an adaption of the winter sport called Military Patrol and originated in Norway to promote national defense by the citizenry.

It's a sport started by some guy that shot a bear with a .22 and had to flee on his ski's.
