When is a good time to start applying for ccw?

I would like to start submitting paperwork in the next few days. I know San Diego will appeal but would like to start early in light of the 9th circuit court's ruling.

Now is as good a time as any. The recent 9th Circuit ruling is significant, but immediate change is not likely.

I would wait as all you are going to do is get a denial and you might have to spend some money to get that far and you will have a previous denial on paper.

Nothing has changed yet. You need to give it some time.

As soon as you are able and qualify. No sense in procrastinating.

The recent ruling opened the door, but the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals can decide to hear the case en banc, and change the panel's ruling. I do not foresee the 9th Circuit allowing this ruling to become law. Then the issue would have to be appealed to the Supreme Court.

Still quite a ways to go for most Californians to obtain the rights to CCW, unfortunately. At least this new ruling is turning a few heads in the right direction.

How long does your safety certificate last? That is the deciding question.

If it were me, it would depend on when you need to pay the fee. Other threads said some IAs require you to pay the fees when you submit your app. Here, I didn't pay any fee until I went to pick up my permit .. same for renewal.

If I was in one of the normal no-issue locations and had to pay a fee up front, I'd wait.

SDSO is holding all applications until the ruling is resolved... best get in line now...

Don't get too exited here is SD. They haven't made any changes to the way they handle CCW applications.
