I actually believe you can use a Pistol DROS to also do a long gun but not the other way around. I have not tried it myself though.

Iffy subject. In a perfect world they are done separately.

It' says it's OK on the form! There is a check box for Pistol, Rifle, Or Pistol/Rifle. Nothing "iffy" about that. It also provides you with additional lines to add guns on, and states you need to use and attach an additional sheet of paper if the 3 extra lines provided are not enough.

Nope, one dros for each. I've been down that road already.

This is correct, HOWEVER good luck finding a FFL who'll do it. A long gun can be added to a pistol DROS, not vice versa.

Luck????? All you need is technique. I do it all the time! I won't make you pay for something thats not necessary. You can use one DROS Pistol/long gun, I wont make you pay twice because YOU DON"T HAVE TOO!!!!!!!!

I think some of you are confusing DROS with the 4473 form. DROS is the computer-generated form that actually registers the gun to you. You sign and thumbprint it and it comes from the State of CA. For pistols, it's one handgun per DROS form since the DROS records make, model and serial number. You can DROS as many long guns as you want on one form since no make, model or serial number info is gathered.

The 4473 (the federal form) can have as many firearms on it as you want. If you exceed the number of spaces on the form, attach a seperate sheet with the info on the rest. Does that make sense to all?

thats correct..... you don't DROS both but you may add to 4473 and take them home on the same day as your DRosed pistol. You may buy them at the same time.
