    Plus pea.

+P, +P+, non-factory loads, and proof loads can all be descriptors of "overpressure" loads. The individual names are for specificity.

Simply calling it overpressure is like walking into a car dealership and telling the salesman you want to buy a Chevy. Unless you specify you want a Camaro, the salesman might give you a silverado because you didn't use the specific name.

I don't think it is close to being highest possible load.

I never say it, I write it on my hand and hold my hand up when I want to use the term.

I can write "+P" on one hand and "+P+" on the other.

If we end up talking about magnums and proof loads things get complicated.

            I pronounce +P as
"Plus P" "Full Power" "Full Pressure" to anyone that knows about ammunition.

And to those that don't I call it "ZOMGZ ZOMBIE KILLER NUKE AMMO"

And all along I thought it meant "plus po-po?" As in they have been using our lane again for training and didn't clean up their brass (again).

Who else can afford to go through that much of the stuff?

                Plus Pee.

This reminds me of a funny, but scary incident that happened about 5 or 6 years ago. I was at the pistol range next to a gentleman who had what looked like a 686. His gun seemed to be spitting powder or unburnt crap. So I started chatting with him and asked him how the gun's timing was. He told me it was a new +P gun and he could "shoot it hot like a magnum." His way of simulating a +P load was to fill a 38 case all the way.

I guess this might have worked for some types of powder that occupy more volume, but he didn't remember what powder he was loading. He had received a whole bunch of reloading stuff from a friend. So he was basically dipping the cases in whatever powder he had and seating the bullet. No wonder it was spitting powder. I tried to tell him that he should really measure and make sure the charge is safe. He ignored me and started shooting again, spraying me with powder.

I gently alerted the rangemaster who pulled the guy aside and had a chat with him. Later on, I saw him leaving the range. I think the rangemaster probably saved his fingers.

I am glad 686s are built stout. If you give some of your reloading stuff to a newbie, please make sure you tell him how to reload as well
