Ballistic polymer target - what you think?

I'm thinking about picking a couple of these up for the "Camp n Shoot" in Aug.

Anyone have any experience with them?
Opinions?

Seems like they hold up pretty good (to normal calibers) according to the reviews and testimonials.....

What do you think?

It all depends on the terrain you're shooting on. If there's a lot of bushes and debris all over the place, these targets will eventually find their way to a crevice or location where you can't hit it. I'd rather pay a little more $$$ and buy some AR500 targets.

It's a fun concept.. but only if the location you're shooting at is compatible. Tennis balls work just as well. You can get big tennis balls at your local pet store.

Looks good, but I'd just use empty aluminum cans and plastic bottles. May not last as long, and might be more clean up, but hey, they're free!

Yah.....I got like 4 bags of old tennis balls and 2 garbage cans full of cans....guess I'll bring them all....:P

Bowling pins are awesome bullet sponges.

I cut the heads off, put ane eye-bolt in the neck and hang it from a pice of rebar bent into a U shape with the legs pounded into the dirt.

Hang the bowling pin heads the same way and use them for .22's.

Just standing up a bunch of bowling pins in the dirt where you can shoot them and they won't run out of sight when hit, you won't need to clear the range and go reset very often.

The polymer targets hold up quite well. Avoid shooting them with hollowpoints and I think you'll literally get thousands of rounds on them before they need to be replaced. I have several that by my estimate should now have about 300-400 through them and they look like they're good to go for several hundred more easily.

I got some from http://www.letargets.com, http://www.justshootmeproducts.com and from http://www.championtarget.com.

They are great!! The only problem is - the steel legs are bullet magnets. Seem like everybody shoots off the legs of the target more than the polymer. Also don't let anybody shoot them with a shot gun. All those BB's getting lodged into the polymer.

Hey MrNiceGuy...

I shot those out on BLM land with some buddies. They work great and they held up well. I liked them. Bigger than tennis balls, so 30yds with pistols is a bit more feasible.

They're a good target - reactive with motion and not teeny like a tennis ball. They are a bit pricey, though. We had some games we played (points for hitting it if it went in air, before it stopped, etc).

We found we liked to switch between those and metal - variety is the key

Yeah, got a case of pins from the bowling alley, and we shot the holy c**p out of them and they were smiling right back at us. I guess anything designed to get whacked over and over, 24/7 by a 16 lb ball is going to be tough, but I was seriously suprised how much .308 one would take and still look pretty much like a bowling pin.

For fun and challenge, go to wally world and buy a bag of cheapie golf balls and then bring out the .22's. They also take a pretty good licking. Only good for one hit, but a 20 lb. bag of charcoal will provide hours of target fun too, and get you shooting pretty seriously too.
If you are feeling really good, put some paint balls up on golf tees and have a little game, first one to get them all wins, or the one who gets them all with the least shots wins. Serious money can change hands with enough shooters.

ooh that reminds me i got some dried out silicone caulk i bet they will take abuse and bounce as soon as i cut the tube open and pry them big caulks out of there

Start with eggs on golf tees, move to paint balls, then to asprin

(at 200 yards).
