    What's a good AR for 1,500

I'm willing to spend 1.5K of my tax return on a AR. I'm currently looking at the Daniel defense V7 or the colt 6920 socom, but I'm still undecided. So what do you guys recommend?

    Thanks in advance

If I were in your shoes, I'd use that money to move out of mom's basement.

For some people (maybe/maybe not you) a S&W MP15, a bunch of ammo and some professional training are a better investment at $1.5K than a higher end carbine.

At your listed price all you'll probably be getting is the DD or Colt. You'll need additional money for sights/optics, extra mags, ammo etc.

        Good luck and happy shopping!

You can't go wrong with a Daniel Defense.

An $800 flat top AR from spikes tactical, a $380 ampoint pro and a two day carbine class.

Much better than just spending it all on a rifle.

I highly recommend building your own AR. It's a very rewarding experience, and it's not that difficult and doesn't require any special tools if you buy a complete upper.

If you are dead set on a factory AR, though, you can't go wrong with a Colt LE6920. Plus, you'll have about $400 left to buy ammo and accessories.

Put your money in a savings account, save some more, and get a LWRC IC SPR. You won't go wrong with one of them. But if you absolutely have to have one now, Daniel Defense is great rifle.

Budget $1100 on the rifle and $400 on a case of ammo.

I second the spikes recommendation. Spend the extra $ for the enhanced upper with the CHF barrel.

You can go to your LGS and have them order you a new (as of SHOT 2014) LWRC DI complete rifle. I believe they are going to be in that price range.

                          ETA:
If you must have it now, I would go with Daniel Defense.

Check out the Stag Arms 3 gun. Pretty good value.
