Minors shooting ARs at the range

Are there specific gun laws in CA covering minors shooting ARs at a range?

(Youth group with Certified instructors and Coaches)

Nope. As long as they are with a adult they should be fine.

Range policy may vary. But most I know of as long as it's all in a safe manner and responsible kids usually blast away.

If it's an issue and you trust the kids hit a BLM.

Only exclusion is RAW's. They cannot be handled or fired by minors.

I've taken my brother several times to several different ranges from the time he was 9 to 13 and they've never had an issue with him shooting my AR or any number of handguns as long as I was in his presence at all times.

I have seen some "big-kids" at the range....just sayin'

Shoot at Motherlode Gun Club and watch some of the best HIpower Jrs in the counrty handle ARs.

The ranges I've taken my kids to only require that you stay close enough to the minor to be able to assert control of the firearm if necessary.
They loved shooting water bottles with the AR ;-)

My 14yo can hit a bottle cap at 40 yards no problem.

I'd rather shoot at the 18 and over ranges. Guess I just don't trust the kiddies shooting an AR next to me. I don't need to get nervous when trying to concentrate on the targets.

As a certified instructor, I feel much more comfortable shooting near minors who are with an instructor than with adult yahoos who think age equals safety or knowledge.

Yeah, can't say I've ever seen a problem with properly supervised children at the range.

Unsupervised manchildren more interested in pictures for facebook than safety are a bigger concern.

Last time I was at Chabot there was someone screwing with stuff on the tables while people were downrange during every target change period. It wasn't children, it was adults aged 20-50 who had heard other people get yelled at over the PA for screwing around with stuff on the tables at least 3 other times.

The one time I've seen an RSO have to repeatedly tell someone to keep their eye and ear protection on wasn't a child, it was a retired old guy who kept taking them off at the line while people were shooting.

The times I've seen target stands get shot down, wasn't due to kids unable to aim, it was grown men giggling until the range staff chewed them out for it.

Can't say that I've ever noticed being swept by children at a range, adults on the other hand...
