    Browning 1911-22 in my future

Anyone have some comments negative or positive?

22lr pistol is in my future for sure

    Choice of
    Sig mosquito
    Ruger snub LCR 22lr
    Walther p22

    Or the browning 1911-22 compact
Held one and it feels exceptional in my hand.
And is finely made, very well built.

Strictly for plinking for my 9 year old daughter and I.

The Browning is a bit pricey. That said, I have one and truly enjoy the feel (7/8 scale) and shooting it. Sights are hard to pick-up in shade but still enjoy it.

      Full size 1911-22 owner here.
Reliable from the very first round fired.
Almost as accurate at short to medium plinking ranges (curse my aging eyes) as my Buckmark with a red-dot.
      Nice, light, very well made.

I love the shorter guns and might someday get the shorter top end for my 1911-22.
But, the full size model's longer sighting radius pays off at the range, so you should consider it over the compact version.

Your daughter probably won't like the revolver's longer and heavier DAO trigger pull...she might get frustrated with missing a bunch.
It is also slower to load and unload.

I had a P-22 but it was tough to hit with at longer distances, it also had rapid slide wear where the steel action parts contact the zinc slide.

I have not shot a Mosquito, posters here seem to have mixed opinions about it for reliability.

The 1911-22 has a great grip size for those with smaller hands, here it would be better than the Mosquito for your young one.

The only down side to the 1911-22 is it comes with only one magazine.

Love mine. It's pricey but it's a piece that I'll hold onto for a good long while.

Maybe the ONLY thing that irks me at times is that the slide doesn't always lock back but I know this is with certain kinds of ammunition but *shrug* other than that it's a nice plinking handgun.

Clear cut more higher end 22lr pistols can we say?

I'm willing to pay the extra for less trouble free 22lr plinking.

Thanks do the input so far guys 👍

I love mine. My wife and kids love shooting it and so do I. I have never had a misfire or FTE etc in well over a thousand rounds. I am very happy with mine. Sights are a bit small but the pistol shoot very accurately and I am a 1911 guy so there ya go.

It's expensive and oddly small sized..

A GSG or Sig 1911 would be a better use of funds..

Extra magazines (a must) are hard to find and expensive.

Remember we are trying to fit a 9 year old girl's hand here, too.

                  Extra magazines here:

                  Darn!
I just noticed Browning's new versions of the 1911-22 with polymer frame, beavertail safety, Commander hammer, larger sights, rail, etc.
Too bad we will never get these here in CA.

                    Browning 1911-22 in my future

                    Bought it!
Darn expensive plinker cost more than my glock lol

Took the advice in this thread and opted for the standard over the compact.

It's in jail now and gets broker free the 25th.

                    Should be fun

                      You did well.......

When they fisrt came out, I bought one (standard size). It is/was for my wife and kids, but seems to always tag along when I head to the range. I'm a little over 12k rounds without a failure, other than ammo related. It's a great little pistol and very fun to shoot. The only down side, is that the sights are also 80%. Use a toothpic or a micro brush and put a dab of white paint on the blade of the front sight.

Congrats! You made the best choice out of the other guns you were looking at.

Picked her up and ran 150 rounds mixes federal and American eagle..
                          Flawless session, and what fun!

Sights sucked big time though lol had to improvise with some blue painters tape from my range bag on the front sight blade.

Went home and applies some white enamel and all is well now!
