Chatting with one of my Canadian brothers in arms. WTF? They are not allowed to conceal carry, OR open carry in city limits (and only then it must be a non-restricted firearm. If it's a rifle, it must meet required length), and if they do open carry, they can get taken in for questioning if seen. and they aren't allowed to carry pepper spray. Knives can only be carried with the excuse of being used as a box cutter. If you say it's for self defense, they get confiscated.

    Holy crap.

Soon we will be like Canada.

Its all because people elect morons to run the government which goes to show how many ignorant people there are here. Like people who try to ban things and they don't even know what a barrel shroud is.

They also need a license to own a gun. If you pass away and nobody in your household or family has a license to own the class of firearm you have, the police take it away and destroy it.

Additionally, you'll love the Canadians for having a 5 round limit for all rifles, anything else with higher is verboten? Depending on the city you're in, you may also need to call the police and inform them that you're transporting a firearm from your place of residence to a specific location and proceed directly there without any stops in between.

I guess this page will clear up any further questions may have about what we think are insane gun control laws. However, it's probably what the gun grabbers think are "reasonable" regulation of firearms ownership and usage.

                  A Canadian's Perspective

I moved from Canada to California, and as gun unfriendly as California is to the rest of the states, it's a relative paradise compared to Canada. I was doing the studying for the various courses you have to take to get the various firearms permits in Canada before I moved down here... and let me say that you don't want to end up there. Permit to own long guns. Permit to own hand guns. Permit to move your guns. (Yes, you can theoretically own them, but absent a 'transport' permit, they can never leave your house!)

Self-defence is not considered a legitimate use of any force: guns, baseball bats, knives. You're supposed to cower, submit and/or run in the event of an attack. Even non-lethal alternatives, like pepper spray, are banned.

There's a massively overpriced gun registry... which isn't complete, since many people haven't bothered to register and, guess what, they can't find them anyways because they were never registered in the first place! So a system that was claimed to have a net cost to taxpayers of $2 million (they claimed that they'd recover costs from registration fees), has gone well over $1 billion as of a couple of years ago.

And after years of scoffing at gun owners for their 'slippery slope' arguments on the dangers of a gun registry and confiscation what did the Liberal Party do in 2005 to try and win after claiming they'd NEVER support a ban? That's right, they campaigned on using the gun registry they implemented to confiscate all handguns in the country.

Thank goodness they got voted out.

So, yeah, it's a sad state of affairs back home. There are many reasons I prefer it in the United States.

One thing good about Canada is they can still buy new Norinco firearms. They can get about $400usd Chinese M1a clones and Norinco 1911's still. Check out marstar.com

I once operated an range a long time ago. A Canadian lady but now a natuarlized USA citizen walked in drinking a Thai iced tea and carrying a Dan Wesson .44mag, one of my favorite drinks and guns. She wasn't bad looking either.

She paid for her range fees with the exact same credit card I had at the time, a NRA one. She was with her husband though

There are some Provinces that are more gun friendly than others. I can think of three, that start with A, S, and M.

They have some of the same troubles we have...
