    Seeking Gunsmith

Well, I didn't get very far with treating my rust problems.

    See ---> http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=885247

The Flitz didn't work, and the 0000 steel wool got some of it off, but not the stains. So, I think I'll send this in to a pro and see what they can do.

What gunsmith do you recommend to deal with a light rust problem? Keep in mind the following:

    1) I'm picky.

    2) I'm willing to pay top dollar for top dollar work.

    3) This gun has irreplaceable sentimental value, so I'd rather not see it go from bad to worse.

    4) I'm in Los Angeles.

    Thanks, all.

P.S. A million years ago, I had a guy named Jim Hogue in Canoga Park work on my Hi Power. I trusted him. But I doubt he's still in the business.

It works very well and does not mess up the finish on metals.

Can you show us a pic of the rust on your gun?

Spots on the frame, the part that is sometimes called the dust cover.

A not-so-good pic of what I accomplished today.

You could try his number: (818) 998-1510

            You might be surprised.

At the risk of boring everyone to death, here are some more pictures. These are "post" the polishing that I did today.

Where the metal is bare at the magazine well is where there was some noticeable red rust. You can still see some spotting near there.

Don't know what I'm going to do about those front strap grooves, since they do not look like they are going to add any pleasure to shooting.

I think you can see the spotting on the frame in this one.
