Bear308 it only costs me a buck and a half to go there.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I just called, they are still there and still open.
I asked if they knew the cause of the fire but was told no they did not.

Time for preventative measures and brush clearing!

Its the old acronym for California Department of Forestry (Changed about 1995 to Calif. Department of Forestry and Fire Protection). In Jan 2007, it was also given the "informal" name of "Cal Fire" to match other state agencies, such as Cal Trans. They use this name in all public contact now. Most of us "old school" types still use CDF.

The USFS has closed the area around ASR, burnt or not, snce the big fires last year. The hills, mountains, fire roads and off-road riding areas in the ANF for miles to the north and east will remain closed until Dec 8 2008 due to the fire hazard (even in the areas already burnt !! ???)

For the first time that I'm aware of, Burro Canyon made a big push this year to clean their brush. They've been mowing, weed-whacking and using grass killer all spring and it's worked wonders. They have 6-10 feet of effectively grass-free areas on all their berms. Hopefully this will help.
