AR pistol problem with Cali FFL?

For the second time today 2 separate FFL's in Cali have given our customers a hard time transferring an AR pistol because it's not marked pistol on the receiver?
These are single shot except with BB & zero rd sled.
Who starts these dumb assed rumors?
The first guy is an 07 FFL and said the cali DOJ walked in a couple of weeks ago and informed him because AR pistols can become SBR's pretty easy that they needed to be marked pistol.

I asked him if his glocks are stamped pistol as they can become SBR's even easier by using a Roni or KPOS system?

I check pretty reg with cali DOJ on any new laws and we don't want to hurt our Cali customers.

If anyone knows of cali changing something please let me know.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Can't help you on the legal front, but I would like to thank you for dealing with our dumbass laws and doing what you can to get weapons into the hands of the good law abiding people of California.
As the great warrior poet Ice Cube once said "If the day does not require an AK, it is good."

As far as i know, they dont need to be marked. I have an AR pistol with out the markings and was dros with no problems. Some ffl's just get freaked out.. One time I had an ffl not wanting to do a transfer on a draco because it looked illegal.

Tell your customers to use a different FFL. This guy is probably one of those FFLs that dislikes any transfer orders coming into his shop.

We called cali DOJ, they told us last week they don't know how this rumor got started, they said there is no requirement to mark this pistol as pistol.
It is recorded in our Federal A&D book as pistol and logged out as such.

Where is/are your customers located? There are shops that will handle this with no issues.

The shop that has the pistol now is getting back to us on monday and may do the transfer depending on what their rep from DOJ tells them.
We have a back up guy but I'll have to get the first one to ship it back here.

The Gun Room? If so that'd be the problem.

To the credit of the org FFL they called the cali DOJ and received the info that AR pistols DO NOT have to be marked pistol on the receivers.
They are going to do the transfer after all
