    Change of Address

Does the DOJ require us to update our address when we move within California?

I searched all over and cannot find anything so I am thinking that we do not have to. Couldn't find any forms on DOJs website either.

Perhaps they just register to my Drivers Lic # and they could find me that way if they needed too?

      people don't seem to understand

theres a record of a gun sale transaction....the DROS essentially.... thats it

the govt is not after you or watching you so they can pounce and steal your guns from you

theres no need to inform anyone where you move to unless you are a child molester or sex criminal

        No.

The CA DOJ does not keep track of where you live.

Sounds like another case of battered gun owner syndrome.

California Gun Owners are so beat up by senseless and useless gun laws that are real that they start seeing imaginary gun laws in the shadows.

Yes. That's the way they do it.

AFS is linked to your drivers license (or ID) number. It's "updated" when you updated your address on that card.

There is no other requirement besides the DMV requirements to update your address when you move.

Oddly enough, the burden is on the state in this case to maintain accurate records of firearms purchases. But give them some time.

                LOLWUT?

AFS is a registry of all firearms purchased and registered to you (which was all handguns after '96 I believe and all long guns after '14). AFS is run by the DOJ and is linked to your drivers license/ID card and DMV records.

So yeah.. They kinda do keep track of where you live. And what guns you own.

It is the name of the firearms registration system in which the DOJ uses (and police have access) to keep track of your firearms.

It means Automated Firearms System. And it does a few other things as well.

Thx for the info. Even though its obtrusive I try to keep everything in check so if I ever need to use a firearm the government has less to go after ME for.
