I was driving into work this morning and thinking about some of the posts I read yesterday and I started thinking of ideas to get the word out about the firearms culture, benefits, etc, and I wondered if it would be possible to setup booths or tables in public places, with all sorts of information about firearms (in no particular order):
-how they function
-difference between rifles, revolvers, semi-auto, etc
-pamphlets on gun safety
-info on local rages
-info on competitive shooting including info on joining local shooting clubs for kids
-have examples of how firearms are part of several popular Olympic events
-info on any relevant veteran related resources
-this one is tricky but somehow explain the political stance and objectives of anti-2a groups
-pass out unbiased, relevant gun violence data
Not sure if it would be possible and maybe this can be done later, but perhaps by coordinating with local law enforcement even have an ability to have firearms at the booth to do show and tell and have folks see and hold them. Obviously take all the precautions, take out fire pins, whatever, but give an average person at least the option of picking up or touching a rifle to see for themselves that they are just a tool or an object nothing more. The more I think I about this the more I think this likely won't fly but this was imagined in my brain so I'll leave it as an idea...
Just trying to figure out a way to stem the tide of miss information and demonize-ation (not a word but wish it was) and give regular folks a chance to make their own decision and determination based on real data. Hope this makes sense...
