    California Gun Laws

Could anyone please tell me the name of the politicians who created the laws in California that absolutely ban automatic weapon sales and ownership, switchblade knives, silencers and a host of other items? I think it was an "act" and had the name of two or three California politicians who made the law. I cannot seem to find it on Google. Thank you.

Lots of different laws - see the wiki -- http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Ti..._Firearms_Laws -- for some of them.

For a couple of the things you mention: Full auto weapons are not illegal - just need a permit. Switchblades are not illegal at all if under 2.0 inches blade length, but others are illegal to sell and to carry around.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Thanks!!! It was Roberti-Roos! Oh, my friend, I inquired! I've lived in California for 60 years and never been to jail or prison. I'm a nice guy. I asked the guy who runs the http://www.autoweapons.com/products/products.html and he said if you live in California you cannot own a machine gun. I mean it was my dream to buy any kind of Thompson and a 50 round drum clip and I used to drool over all the primo Tommys he has on his site. But now I'm not able to. I cannot own a silencer for a Ruger Mk3 I want to buy. You can't even own a threaded barrel. And California law prohibits even buying a switchblade from another state!!!

WOW. I can't tell if you are being serious...

Any of those things you mentioned, what would make you think any of it would be legal in CA?

Full auto and suppressors are not legal in any state without paperwork/permits, that is a federal deal with the ATF. But unless you are military, LEO, gov't or have a particular FFL, you won't get the paperwork/permits in CA.

Also, owning a threaded barrel is not illegal, but it's illegal in CA to have it installed on the firearm. This only applies to pistols, not rifles or shotguns.

50rd drum mags are a no go, unless you owned them prior to the original ban over a decade ago or as a parts kit prior to Jan 1st, 2014.

Well, Roberti-Roos was 20 years ago. Sounds like you were around when that law was being passed.

                AFAIK...
                In CA...
Silencer ban happened in the late-1930s.
MG and switchblade regulations started in the late-1960s.
