assistance painting sights

Hello,

Has anyone became a pro at painting black sights with a 3.dot pattern and is willing to paint my sights for a small fee.

I have a rock island 1911 tactical with black novak sights and would just like to add the whitedots or fiber optic color dots to help with visability.

toothpick + Fingernail polish(color of choice) and patience...

Tooth pick will take care of the rear sights. I taped off the front sight and painted the blade only. I don't try to put a dot on the front and I left the rear sight black. I used two coats of white model paint.

Anybody know a cheaper option for something like this or used it before and have any left i can buy or bumb?

My wallet is sad right now and it hurts to pay over $30 and only need 10 drops for 1 sight.

Testors enamel paint. Only $1 for a small bottle, can be found at any craft/hobby store.

I actually have some white/green luminescent paint (glow paint) that I purchased for my sights. Works great and really-REALLY bright at night. Needs to be charged by a flashlight to glow but that takes about 3 seconds.

It's the same paint used on watch faces to make the numbers glow. It can be purchased Here (Watch Lume fomula) for about 12 bucks.

Where are you (in CA)? If you're close, ill be willing to let you use some.

same here. i have the ultrabright flourescents version. i bought the set from amazon that has 6 colors plus a thinner. not sure why i would need a thinner because the paint is thin enough. apply multiple coats. allow to dry fully.

one issue i had on my hk is that the rear sights aren't 'deep' enough compared to the front. i was able to put paint only in the sight instead of the whole blade/front.

the rear was a pita. had to wait for it to dry and flatten because the rear sites were very shallow to put multiple paint layers.

This. Just go on & have at it. The paint comes off easily with acetone. Try it till you get it right. You're usually gonna have to redo it before long anyway.

I like white Testors or Krylon International Orange.
