    Weird PPT question

I have a gun that I want to sell/trade. I just realized that several years ago I went thru a situation (make a long story short, grandpas wife of 25 years younger went crazy and had to restrain her, so she claimed abuse...of course I was found innocent). Had to have all my firearms held by police or transfer them to a family member. I think I ended up transferring them to my dad (intrafamily transfer?).

I am assuming that the gun is now registered in my dad's name, which means that he needs to be present to do the sale/transfer, right?

    Tia.

Did the transfer occur via FFL or did you send in the paperwork to the DOJ yourself or did your dad simply take possession of your firearms? If no transfer occurred on paper then the gun should still be in your name.

Even if they were transferred on paper, your dad could simply give the gun back to you via intrafamilial transfer and then you would be able to sell it. No need to reregister in your name. As the seller all you need is Ca. ID during the PPT process. As long as the gun is not stolen or such, no red flags should arise.

I think we did intrafamily transfer. Got a PM assuring me that is doesn't matter who is selling the gun, as long as it isn't stolen.

        Thanx guys!!!!

Seller does not have to be the owner. Weird but true.

A refinement - does not have to be documented as the owner - lots of CA guns are unknown to the State - but one must have an ownership interest to sell a thing.
