So, I went to the outdoor range today and didn't see any yuppies in business casual with 10k guns but I wish I had so I could've chatted them up. What I did see were young boys and girls, teenage boys and girls, men and women, new shooters, a better balance of females to males and a better balance of young to geezers (that's me). It was great seeing so many people who don't fit the stereotype of older white males at the range. I hope they had fun and keep coming back for more. There may be hope that the demographic drought for new shooters is going to reverse and get favorable after all much to the dismay of the liberal anti-gunners.

I took a CCDW course last weekend here in KY and I was really happy to see a wide variety of people there. Men, women, young and old, and they weren't all white. Also the class was packed. I feel like the tide is turning in our favor. -

It depends on the range you go to, you tend to get a different mix of shooters. The ones I go to are (in order of frequency):
1. Coyote Valley Sporting Clays, Morgan Hill. The regulars here are mostly older white male shooters, but during holidays you'll get a greater mix of age, race and gender. I do see Asians from time to time, but not often.
2. Los Altos Rod & Gun, Los Gatos. A lot of Asians here, mostly on the rifle or tin-can ranges. They also have a electric trap filed and quite a number of manual trap launchers, which seems more popular with white folks. Mostly younger folks too. Their electric trap range seems to attract fairly wealthy customers, I usually see expensive cars like top-line Audi sports car or Ferrari open-top parked there.
3. Reed's Indoor Range, Santa Clara. Mostly younger customers and an even mix of Asians and white. Also a good gender mix, typically girlfriend or wife of other male shooters although you'll also see a few lone white female shooters too. The last time I was there, there's a fairly good looking young white female wielding a 12 gauge pump action shotgun and it looked like she knows what she's doing. Attracted A LOT of attention, Reed's staffs were all gawking at her. I think she's either a police officer or FBI agent, probably beyond the league of the guys there.

I was at mine last week. Saw a 16 and under handgun class being put on (Not sure what the youngest allowed was). Lots of participants with their parents and instructors.
Also saw a guy with his wife and 3 kids on the rifle range. Very cool guy. One of his kids shot one of my goodies and loved it. A few females that put me to shame (Not Hard). My glass is half full and think the Libs shot themselves in the foot (Pun intended) and turned a whole new demographic into firearm enthusiasts.Knives don't stab people, cars don't drive drunk, eating utensils don't make you fat and pencils don't mis-spell words.Comment

I think its more old military guys. Most of the guys I ever run into at the range who have the more impressive (not more necessarilly more expensive) rifles are former military that kept shooting. I remember talking with a couple former scout snipers who had a pair of M40s they were using out to about 750-800 yards. Talking with them and seeing their groups that far out, I'm glad they're on our side haha.Dear ISIS, Texas is not known for their gun free zones.

Last time I went it was all kinds. The one before that was all kinds, but it was AR day...20-25 people, all AR rifles. I had a bolt action. The only bolt rifle that day.It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.
How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

The range I shoot at has a pretty good variety. latino, Asian, plenty of under 40 people, as well as over 40. Some days half the people there are female, more regularly there are at least a couple.
