I am traveling to Texas next week and was wondering if it would be easier or better to purchase an 80% lower and see if I can have it built out there. Or would I have issues bringing it back to California (not flying) if its completed? Or am I just better off finding a solution here to build my own AR15?

If you are asking if its okay to have someone mill it out for you in Texas VS. CA. the answer is no. It doesnt matter what state you are in you must build it at home to be legal. You can transport it back and forth legally with no issues as long as you are complying with all the state laws that you are in, such as bullet button & 10rds in cali And texas I do not know their laws so you will have to check. -

I would mill it out here. If I understand the insane laws here, if you bring a firearm in to CA, you have to register it. Not sure if that covers making one yet. I'm not a lawyer and the CA laws give me a headache when trying to decipher them. With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

You can't go to a shop and do the whole press the CNC button; the ATF got rid of that.
You can't use someone else's mill and they charge you for it; that's a no-no from the ATF. Build parties are defacto banned, you gotta do it yourself, be it at home or in the middle of a field in Montana.HammerOriginally posted by CSACANNONEERYou don't watch much porn, do you?Originally posted by loopholeWhat's a PIN number? Ok I can see where bringing in a finished lower would be a problem.
So what about having it built at a cnc shop? Why are you saying the ATF stopped that. I did see some articles where they had a cease and desist against certain locations.
what about this website?
Makin it seem as long as the cnc place doesn't provide the codes its fine. Pleasge advise.

The ATF strictly prohibited any press and play type cnc configurations.
Even letting someone borrow a cnc for profit can get you in some trouble. The best bet is to befriebd someone with experience and have them teach you how to do it yourself without any money involved.
This has become a very touchy subject as of late.
The bottom line is this.
Dont risk it, just learn from youtube, friend, social gatherings.
Good luck

so the main issue is making a profit from allowing myself use a cnc machine?Comment

the main issue is you don't own the equipment and you are not doing it at home.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
