Wild Bills in Elk Grove has a large selection
River City Gun Exchange in Sac has good selection, but always swamped/busy
Sac Black Rifle in Rocklin has decent selection, kinda pricey
The Gun Range in North Highlands - small, limited selection, but very nice indoor range to shoot!
Shooters Warehouse - ok selection, ok prices. Very nice staff tho.

Discount Shooters in Antelope, nice people, little pricey. has lots of reloading items.
Sportsman Warehouse in Rocklin, down the road from Sac Black Rifle, nice people, big chain store with archery, outdoors, hunting, reloading and selection of new production rifles, hand guns, shotguns, black powder and some ar-15's.

Just a comment on Discount Guns. They are in Roseville on Melody Lane, which is off of Cirby Way. Pretty good selection of pistols and long guns, including AR's unless they have pulled stock to take to a gun show over the weekend.

I guess it would depend on what part of Sacramento you'll be in and what you're looking for. I like used. Don't get me wrong, I like new too, just more character in used.

Opened a year and a half ago, big open shop, helpful staff. I like the store, haven't bought a gun there yet. ***** "Just Guns - I PPT there, they are very fair and have a great layout. They are friendly to black rifles but I don't recall any in stock or on display." ***** "Customer was better when they first opened. Now, it's a crapshoot too. Selection is okay, but I expect them to increase as the business picks up. The last time I was there, about a month ago, they added a black rifle section and a gunsmith in the back. Prices are slightly higher than other shops that have been around a while."

A newer gun store, usually has an ad in the Sac Bee ***** "Sacramento Black Rifle didn't have their FFL yet when I last visited. (They have FFL now) If previous performance is any indication, they'll likely have a great selection of AR's. They've always been busy when I've gone in, even during the week." ***** "Awesome guys with great guns. They had a location in Citrus Heights for a few years. Over there they had a few pistols and I think they were exclusively black rifle for long guns. Haven't been to their new location."

Staff are very approachable and are very involved in 2nd amendment issues. Always busy, but very well staffed." "Another good shop, 5% off with a military ID. I haven't seen them not crowded, they have a good selection of handguns and rifles." ***** "Great customer service with the more mature reps. Big, big box store. Feels a little like Disneyland for outdoors people. Big selection of firearms, friendly knowledgeable staff. ***** "Sportsman's Warehouse is a box store, but this one tends to be more informed and friendly than many others, including Cabela's and BassPro. No OLL's and their stock really fluctuates. They've pulled some of the best gun salesmen away from their hunting store competitors and it shows in their customer service." "They are more friendly than what you'd expect from a warehouse. They are much more hunter driven as they don't FFL for black rifles per company policy. I found some amazing ammo prices in their bulk pile. They also of a good assortment of reloading supplies." ***** "I don't know what's up, but they had a bigger selection of handguns before. Now their handgun selection is about half and don't carry much of anything I would be interested in. They seem to be a sporting/hunting shop, therefore there are no black rifles. Knowledge of the reps vary greatly, but customer service is better on weekdays than weekends. Prices are slightly higher than Wild Sports, which is odd for being a chain store."

Big, brightly lit shop, one of the only indoor ranges around. (See Jane Magnan Range below.) You can shoot handgun caliber rifles and shotguns. Big selection of guns. I've had good service there, some on CalGuns have complaints. ***** "Customer service is hit and miss, with most cases being a miss. Prices are higher than others, but they do have a big selection. I go there to handle guns then shop around for a better price. I don't believe they sell any more black rifles."

Small shop, lots of Western / SASS sort of stuff, used leather holsters and belts. Big local NRA supporter. Just a block away from The Gun Room. ***** "Wild Bill's carries a LOT more than just cowboy stuff now. He's got stuff on the wall I wouldn't expect to see in an average California gun store. Branden's store is the only reason I'm willing to drive through Elk Grove anymore. They're not condescending towards women either, which is a very big deal to me." ***** "Good customer service. Prices are average. They have one of most things, but not a whole lot of one thing. If you want to straight-up sell a firearm and not deal with consignment, this would be the place -- he gives the best prices."

Big store, half hunting, half fishing. Really big gun selection, sometimes has good ammo sales. I've bought a couple of guns there and they were just fine to deal with. Some CalGunners have posted complaints. ***** "I've been there multiple times over the years. I know they've been around at least 15 years. They are more driven towards hunters but they usually have an SA M1A and the occassional SOCOM II. If you know what you want and what you are talking about they tend to be friendlier, but even then it is hit and miss. The last time I was there they were being inspected so I didn't hang around too long." ***** "As someone already said, they have become cocky as they have been in business for some time now. I still find some reps to be friendly in the handgun and shotgun area. Prices for in-stock items can be lower than other shops, however they will not give prices over the phone. Selection is just a little above average, but they are not black rifle friendly."

New Update, they closed their store and now just work out of a small office, do transfers and orders from distributors. Limited hours but will work with you to meet your schedule, give them a call. New # is 530-406-0610 Good people! Arturo and his young family, sometimes you can hear kids when they answer the phone.

Their office is just down the hall from a county court room in leased office space. Don't feel paranoid carrying new guns past the courtroom doors!

Haven't been in the store, small shop on Main street. ***** "I need to add a little to Toro Arms. Great people there. I was running out of time and ran in the store 15 minutes before they closed. They allowed me to get through my paper work and start my 10 day wait even though I wasn't finished until 10 minutes after closing. They then told me what the end of my 10 days would be and then mentioned to call before I leave to pick it up so someone could hang around after closing so I could come in to pick it up. This was very generous considering they are open the next morning." ***** "DROS plus $25."
