sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I was there last Friday and they mentioned the audit.
Don't remember if it was in process or coming up.
They didn't treat it like a big deal, just something slightly annoying that had to be done.
And only annoying it that it was an interruption, no real complaint.
Since I picked up on Friday, I had no reason to inquire about details.

They were there. Atleast on 7/17, the day stomach and I met there so I could buy his Colt Cobra. They were in the back with Ade doing whatever they do...
The "books" they left with, if they left with any, could have been from last month or last year.
No one yet has said they were stopped from picking up their purchase.
No big deal so far...sigpicNRA LIFE MEMBERComment

Gas isn't free but losing a OLL friendly FFL hurts and costs us as a community even more than what was paid in gas...I was there on monday to pick up a rifle and he mentioned the atf audit, he also forgot to get my fingerprint on the PPT papers so they called me on tuesday and said I needed to come in and now I have to drive all the way back out there to put my fingerprint on the papers.
bull **** imo, last time i checked gas wasnt free

Correct, I specifically drove by there today to see what was going on and not just rumors that many like to spread. Open for business and people doing "gun stuff".
Taking "books" can be part of a normal ATF audit as I mentioned..22short .22lr .22mag .25acp .32acp .32H&Rmag,.35rem .30carbine

The OP said that the "books" were taken by BOF, not ATF.
Federal law requires that an FFL's bound books be retained at the licensed premises. Federal law forbids BATFE agents from removing an FFL's bound books from his licensed premesis, unless they constitute "material evidence of a violation of law."
In a normal audit, BATFE agents are supposed to make copies, not take the originals.

Interesting, another FFL told me they took books before as if was normal, hmmm. Maybe as mentioned confusion between ATF and BOF. I know the people there today were ATF unless Ade told me wrong me by accident as I was there today buying something and they were there again. The OP said that the "books" were taken by BOF, not ATF.

Well there has always been the discussion on the A&D book on where it has to be.....if the ATF Inspectors want to take it, they can......they have to sign for it and let you know when it'll be back.....you can still operate as normal w/o it.Interesting, another FFL told me they took books before as if was normal, hmmm. Now more than likely they are duplicating the entire book....here is where it gets interesting.....now they are supposed to only hold copies for the length of their inspection but they are probably compiling a big data base....
I know our inspection took over 9 mos to complete....
From my perspective they've hit about every major FFL in the state in the last two years.....CHECKOUT...http://cwstactical.com FOR ALL YOUR CALIFORNIA LEGAL AR-AK-HK RIFLES and BUILDS...

WOW. I had no idea there was such a stir on here. No one PM'ed me.... Let me set the record straight.
BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) (Federal), came in for a unannounced inspection week before last. As it was unannounced, we were not as prepared for it, as far as being SUPER ORGANIZED, as we would have been had we known it was going to take place. The day after BATFE arrived for inspection we did have an incident. While the incident was a set back, it's since been resolved. The person involved was arrested, charged with five felonies and one misdemeanor, and is now exploring the inner workings of our wonderful legal system. It really wasn't a big deal, and wasn't half as exciting as one might think.
Yes, BATFE "borrowed" our books in order to perform audits on them without having to be sitting in the store doing it.
BATFE is still in the course of their inspection, and we aren't sure when it will end, but we hope soon. This WOULD be classified as a ROUTINE inspection, and is nothing to get excited about, it's just a long process.
This has had very little affect on our business. We HAVE NOT failed to release any guns as a result of this inspection. Even with our A & D books being gone for 1 day last week (they have since been returned), it was pretty much business as usual. All this inspection is doing is taking time. The BATFE Agents have been courteous and professional.
So that's the story from the insider... lol. I really do appreciate everyone's concern, and hopefully we will get through this soon. I appreciate those who have stood up for us in the previous posts, you guys are awesome. We hope to be back to normal ASAP.

Yup I know another FFL in the area had a major inspection recently also, it seems to go in geographic regions, one up the street, than the next. I think ATF/DOJ is trying very hard to burn FFLs for paperwork violations lately, witness Lock,Stock and Barrel and especially Richs Arms.
GlockOn thanks for giving these people some real info and not spreading FUD. If I was that worried about ATF being at Ades I'd of not bought a gun there during all this mess. Hope Sig Sauer day went well! I will check that thread later..22short .22lr .22mag .25acp .32acp .32H&Rmag,.35rem .30carbine
