I've owned several AR-7 rifles. They were all charter arms or armalite. They all pretty much sucked. I don't know if Henry has been able to remove the suck but they look nice with the slimmed down stock.

Even with my prior bad experiences with the AR-7 I still love the look and idea of them. If they are now reliable I would probably buy another.

Just get a 10/22 takedown and forget the AR-7

My wife has the Henry. it shoots well for a plinker. the only issue is they like quality ammo. the milk carton stuff doesn't cycle well. it runs fine on the CMP golden eagle which is what i buy. I read where there is a fix for it where you cut a loop or two or three from the recoil springs so it cycles on ammo that has less oompth. I haven't tried this but I have had failures with the cheap bulk ammo.

Can't speak as an owner but a friend and shooting buddy has one of the Henry Arms models that accompanies us on every shooting range trip. Frankly I didn't expect much but after shooting a few hundred rounds through it I am very impressed. The fit is excellent, the rifle is tight when assembled, it eats everything we've fed it so far, and it shoots very well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if a compact takedown rifle was on my radar.

I have one. It definitely has some cool-factor going for it.

I can consistently do 1 to 1.5 and occasionally sub-MOA using irons from the bench with match ammo and my .223 service rifle, but the best I can do with my AR-7 using CCI Blazer are plate-sized groups at 50 yards.

You'd be very lucky to hit a rabbit at 100 with it. Man-size targets at that distance, no problem.

On the plus side, not a single failure of any kind with about 500 rounds through it. Not from round 1. And it's amazingly light! It adds negligible weight to a backpack. It feels like it only weighs only slightly more than a brick of the Blazer.

I agree, but only if you had to choose between the two. If you can own both, that's even better. I don't have the takedown model yet, but it's on the short list.

I agree with the poor accuracy of these super light rifles .
Although I've not tested the Henry, I did have occasion to test the marlin papoose . Marlins rifles are known for good accuracy, yet this survival type did not produce it.

The best I could achieve at 25 yards was an 8 minute group ! As Mike noted, not good enough for rabbit at 100 yards .

For a breakdown model, I 2 nd the Ruger 10/22 takedown.

I got my Henry AR-7 through Buds...I've got a Charter Arms AR-7, too. There's no comparison between the two. The Henry is a great rifle, and their customer service is first rate (I broke the front sight off, and they sent me a new one for free).

I will say they seem to like HV ammo better than SV. And you need to watch how you hold them...if you put a lot of pressure on the magazine, it can lead to FTF-type problems. Not guaranteed problems, but something to keep in mind.

                        Very cool rifles!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

Mine works like a champ, runs all types of ammo. Heavy bull barrel does the trick for accuracy.

                            Very cool rifles!
I have the older model Henry AR-7 and I agree with Joe. Kinda picky on ammo, careful where you hold it and keep it nice and clean and lubed and you'll have a fun plinking rifle.
