crossman 177 target air pistol

i just came across a OLD crossman 177 cal target pistol. cant even figure out how to charge it. it is a single shot. most likely from around 1950 . it still has a box but no info in it. it has a adjustable power setting knob on the rear.

If that's kinda-sorta what it looks like, then you've got a really neat toy on your hands, and the thing on the back isn't a power setting: it's the cocking mechanism. Pull it straight back until it clicks - IIRC - two times. That cocks it. You'll still have to pump it, though. That's how you adjust the power.

The old-school Crosman American Classics (that's what that model used to be called) were REALLY great. Rifled bore, very accurate, VERY high muzzle velocity. I've still got one ... somewhere ...
