    Field Time in Westminster

I did a few ppt's there over the past year or so and for the most part they were adequate enough...nothing to write home about but their services sufficed. The older guys seem helpful enough. I went there for a ppt recently and we approached the sale counter to start the paperwork as usual. The counter-commander got all bent out of shape and started to holler at us as he ripped the gun from our case (sans mag) to rack it back for safety check. I understand that there are safety measures but if the guidelines have changed recently, signages at the door might be helpful before this kind of decorum ensues. Anyhoo, that's not the worst part.

After calming down from his A.D.D. fit, the commando started to grill our fellow calgunner about where and how he got the pistol. Are you LEO? Former LEO? Moved from another state recently? You know that the pistol is not on the list for at least 2 years right? The barrages continued to no end...caught off guard, we just stared at each other and mouthed WTF as we circle jerked each other (lol). Again, after calming down from his second A.D.D. petit mal, he came back and finished up his rant by stating: "it doesn't mean I won't do your ppt but there's a chance that DOJ might confiscate this...I know as I was a former affiliate of DOJ."

Now, let's not bull**** a bull****ter...if you were DOJ and currently employed by a lgs, the question of why comes to mind readily. Besides, I too was an affiliate of Pete Wilson and the governator...when I was a phone solicitor so you see the point. The dude even added: technically he can't ppt the pistol unless there's a mag with it. My FUD alarm was so loud I couldn't think.

That's not all...what got me going was a nonchalant blanket statement that he made about our community. During the course of the conversation (if you can even label it as such), I've mentioned sse as a legal way to bring an off-list piece into CA and how a ppt would negate the list (and the current transaction would be a second ppt). His casual statement about us calgunners amounted to how we drink our own koolaid and our practices and understanding of the law is questionable at best.

It is transparent that this individual will more than likely deny this but I hope he and the owner of FT will see this post. As most of the above may only equate to subjectivism, I thank you for letting me ***** a bit. As for my business with FT, I doubt that there will a subsequent one.

I've been in there twice Bought a PEPR scope mount the first time a couple months after they opened. The second time I saw they were selling 7N6 ammo for $649 per tin and walked out. I won't ever be going back.

I do most of my ppt's there because it's close to work.

Always in and out quick. I usually start the paperwork before the other party arrives.

I've noticeda couple fuddy duddies workers there lately. Still, it's a good shop as a whole. Last time I was there the archery area was packed. I like the young workers there. The tatted up guy and the young Native American guys are cool. The older guy with the accent cracks me up too.

Been in there numerous times myself. Nothing but excellent service that keeps me coming back. Some of their prices are indeed higher than normal so I don't purchase those items. I will continue to shop there until a personal experience changes my mind about them.

I shoot there quite often. It's clean and the people are nice. There ammo is always reliable. Of course there are going to be a couple hardcases in an service buisness. It is family owned and they do have great specials now and then. I've never done a PPT there. Id hope this was the excpetion and not the rule.

Sometimes I wonder if their small size (as a company) means they're buying this stuff at near retail and trying to mark it up to resell.

I mean; they have rifles on the wall that would have all sold (plus their replacements... and maybe even the replacements for the replacements...) between sb374 and then 2014 rifle registration... if the price were $99 less. But of the three I'm thinking of; none did sell and they are still there... Either the owner doesn't 'get it' (the benefits of moving / turning over stock*) or he can't sell it for less since he didn't get a dealer price for them / he has no margin or wiggle room on price...

                * Selling six (or maybe 9) rifles at a $100 markup is better than selling 3 (or really 0) at $200. Moving more rifles means better prices from distributors, more customer traffic, more accessories, more reloading stuff, et cetera...

You probably were dealing with Andy. No big deal and you sound like you are very thin skinned.

I have done many transfers there with no issues, sorry about your experience! I personally really really like the shop for ppt's.

I walked in there at 6:04 pm to do a ppt and they announced they don't do any ppt 1 hour before close which is 7pm. I pointed out there were no customers in their immense store but that didn't seem to phase them. Went a block or 2 to the stockade finished up at 6:40 and picked up 2 long guns from their inventory.

They are also in two different cities. OP mentioned Westminster which would be the gun store.

I like the selection, and dealing with the owner, is the best, but some of the counter help do not know as much as they should about firearms.

For instance, I looked at a very nice Kimber Super America in .270. The rifle was free floated, and the counter guy said, ALL rifles are free floated.

                            Hmmm, .....

Perhaps...but like I noted it's not a bad place to ppt and many have indicated that it's a quick in-n-out ppt place. I understand that...however I just don't care for all the fud particularly about possible confiscation of my to-be pistol. I mean how many of us would like that insertion during our ppt...with no basis no less?!?! The store is only as good as its weakest link and I question this particular one is all. And in all seriousness, is confiscation when relating to an off-list ppt that common or is it a case of my cousin's former roommate ex-father-in-law once knew a guy kind of situation?
