Grant Boys is no friend of the second amendment. Interestingly... They still sell "assault weapon" ammunition; FMJ 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 5.56 NATO....lol.

After the info you posted, why in the hell would you even set foot in that store?

I will never buy a firearm or firearms related item form them. I do buy Levi's and camping gear from them.

I live in Newport and I organized the summer long pro RKBA weekend protests by NRA/ GOAC (gun owners action committe) against Grant Boys over all the above back when Roberti-Roos as coming down on us.

The owners name is Randy Garell

"Grant Boys Plans to Quit Selling Semiautomatic Assault Weapons
January 21, 1989 | STEVEN R. CHURM, Times Staff Writer
The head of one of the largest gun stores in Orange County said Friday he will stop selling such military assault weapons as the AK-47 rifle, the type used to kill five grade-school pupils in Stockton. Randy Garell, president of the Grant Boys store in Costa Mesa, said the retail gun dealers must "wake up and face facts." "The handwriting is on the wall that these types of weapons with massive firepower have little true purpose," said Garell, who also sells camping and outdoor gear."

Grants For Guns...its meh...firearm prices are not competitive. They have a nice selection of camping gear and clothing.
Last time i stopped in i asked the girl at the register if they had any 22lr. She busted out laughing in my face, inappropriately. I don't plan on going back.

          Go to The Stockade instead.

                F that place.

Went there once, total waste of time and gas.

I did find a killer place to get chicken nearby, it's called BC Broiler.

Great, now I want some of that chicken for dinner.

Thanks for the information. I will never purchase anything from them, and will advise my shooting buddies not to either.

I placed an order and paid for 22LR ammo on May 2013 and checked on my order every 2 months since and the sales person just says " keep checking..22 LRs are hard to come by"....so I'll check another time for this month and if my order is not filled still.....I'll cancel and ask for a refund!

Did a PPT there for an old model Ruger. For the demo I loaded one skipped one and loaded 4. The guy wasn't going to pass me. I explained to him about no loaded ammo under the hammer on an old style revolver. He finally asked his boss and I was GTG.

                        Bad counter help.

They sell to rich dudes anyway who want a firearm and don't know much.

But, glad there's one in that expensive part of town, just for the exposure.

I bought my 870 Wingmaster there in 1978 . And my friend bought a Browning 22 lever action . besides some Coleman glass that is it. Army and Navy store in Orange is better store ,better parking and more to do and better place to have a meal.

did a ppt there a couple years ago. young guy who has no clue had to get a manager to ok a off roster ppt. he then loudly proclaimed the new owner was a felon when he displayed his standard capacity mag. he said it was pre ban and the guy had no clue. he then loudly proclaimed i was a felon when the guy handed me his standard mag as i compared it to a 10 round mag. and when i say loudly i mean it was loud and awkward. another guy came from the other end of the counter as i think he could tell we were irritated. came over and finished the transaction. my 1 and only stop there.

The owners and most of the employees are not friends of the 2nd amendment and California's gun owners. They have the gun business because the founder had the gun business. They like the "idea" of being in the gun business but have never done ANYTHING to support the 2nd amendment' just hurt it.

I have never seen the NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, CRPA or any other pro second amendment organizations literature in the store or promoted by the store...

While I will never buy a firearm or any firearms related goods' I have drifted in occasionally over the years just because it is my most local gun store. I can't believe the FUD that passes as expert advice from the employees. I always leave just shaking my head.
