Gun transfer question, grandfather to grandson

I could use some advice guys. My best friend's grandfather is dying and home bound. He wants his grandson (my friend) to have his handgun and shotgun but how do they go about doing this with his grandfather home bound because he's so ill???

These would be his first firearms and he wants to take them as a personal memory of his grandfather.

If both CA residents he can hand them to his grandson. His grandson will then send in the Vol reg forms. (see links below to oplaw forms)

In addition to the requirement that they both be California residents, your friend also needs to be at least 18 years old. And before he can receive the handgun he needs a Handgun Safety Certificate.

If they aren't both California residents then it gets more complicated.

Oh, and he shouldn't use the Vol reg form mentioned above to report the transfer. He needs to use the Op-Law/Intra-family form linked below...

Gotcha, I'll pass the info along to him. These will be his first firearms and I'm sure they'll mean a lot more to him because they're his grandfathers.
