Kick Eez recoil pads, question on installing

I'm looking at a Kick Eez pad for one of my shotguns and I'm wondering is the side of it that mounts to the end of the butt stiff or a little pliant? The shotgun butt has some curve too it, it's not flat.

The name goes on the outside, or against your shoulder.

It's been a while but aren't those pads model specific? IE if the buttstock is curved the pad is also?
